Start with these numbers

• 1 to 5 vanilla players: 2 to 3 GB
• 6 to 10 vanilla players: 4 GB
• 11 to 20 vanilla players: 6 GB
• Modpacks: add 2 to 4 GB

Different versions and packs need different amounts. Test with friends, then adjust.

When to add more

If you see frequent stutters, long chunk loads, or crash logs that mention memory, add RAM. If the server still slows down after you add RAM, the limit might be CPU, so close heavy apps and reduce simulation distance.
